We're always looking
for donations to help
care for all the animals
rescued.
We are ringing in 2008 with some exciting News!!
We have a new location!
We have new veterinary services!
2007 proved to be another great year for our rescue! We were able to place 405 animals in loving homes. We are
excited to be starting our 5th year!
We have secured new veterinary services. Last August the veterinarian who had been helping our rescue chose to
break our relationship. We are so very lucky to have several vets who are excited to work with us. Thanks to Dr. Pam
Carpenter and Dr. Sandy Haney. Thanks to Dr. Mary Marcotte at Furry Family Veterinary Clinic in Noblesville. And, a
special “thank you” to Dr. Jodi Hubner who is not only a fantastic vet, but a great friend to the rescue, as well.
We also have a new location! As we were renting space from the vet service that chose to end our relationship, we felt
the need to relocate. As we were being held to our lease we could not vacate until Jan. 31, 2008. It’s really true that
when one door closes another one opens. We found a wonderful place that is just like a little cottage. One of our
volunteers nicknamed it “the enchanted cottage.” Our new landlady is very sweet and very supportive of what we do.
A super huge “thank you” to my brother Jim who helped us get the cottage ready before the big move. Jim was able to
build us an isolation room as well as other things we needed. He came through with flying colors. It looks great! We
would not have made it without you!
On Jan 27th we rented a truck and 13 people arrived to help us move to our new home. It was such a great day! Even
the weather cooperated. A lot of hard work and a lot of laughter as well took place. Thanks to all of you! – Shelley L.,
Patti H., Diane E., Theresa L., Jeanne and Bob H., Sean K., Alyssa L., Amanda D., Christine F., Dale G., Sam R., Tim
H., Travis H., and Bill H.
We extend a special thanks to Tammy Sollenberger and the staff of the “Low Cost Spay and Neuter Clinic” in
Noblesville. What a great group of people to work with! They provide a wonderful service for the community. They also
run a great vaccine clinic, as well. It is unbelievable the kindness they show and the wonderful things they do for us.
Check them out (317-706-0537).
We give our thanks to Petsmart for letting us show our cats there as we have the past 4 years. We are proud to be
“sharing partners” with them! A big hug to my cleaning crew at Petsmart – Mary Ellen, Sara and Shelley.
We would like to extend special thanks to Brian Foster who recently retired as the Westfield Police Chief. Brian has
been a great supporter of our rescue. We wish he, his wife and Lenny (the llama) the very best.
We give special thanks to our treasurer – my mother, Jo Ann. Its amazing how she continues to be our treasurer since
her daughter forgets to tell her vital information from time to time. But in the end she manages to get it all balanced out.
What a friend Dale G. has been. He has great innovative ideas on how to get things done. Thanks for all the work you
did to get us ready for the move and thanks for helping us on moving day.
Thank you so much Christine F. for organizing and running the fund-raiser for Parker’s knee surgery. Parker’s surgery
was a success and he is doing well in his new home. Also, thanks to you and your husband for finishing the painting
at the shelter when I was unable to do so.
Check out Susan Cook’s photography. She does exceptional work. She has taken many pictures of our animals that
we display on our website. Plus, she has donated some of her proceeds to us from adoption events we have
attended. Thank You Susan!
I’ve saved the best for last – My Volunteers
When you look up the word ‘volunteers’ in the dictionary you find the meaning to be “people that express a willingness
to help.” Such a simple group of words.
When I think of the word ‘volunteers’ I see something much more!
I see a group of special people.
I see a group of loving, caring and passionate individuals.
I see a group of people who give up their time to care for all the beautiful animals God created.
I see a group of people who are willing to pitch in and help when they are needed.
I see a group of people for whom I am blessed that our paths have crossed.
I see a group of people that I am proud to call “My Friends.”
Thanks so much to Alyssa, Anastasia, Amanda, Ashley, Chase, Christine, Dani, Deb, Elena, Erica, Jeanne, Jessica,
Jordan, Megan, Nicole, Sara, Sasha, Shelley, Sean, Theresa, and Tracy. Thanks so much to all of you for pitching in
and working extra time at the rescue and for doing so much for me after my accident.
Also, I am very thankful to have three great foster homes. Thank you Nancy D., Diane E., and Shelley L.
On Dec. 19, 2007 I fell on the ice and broke my (R) humerus in 2 places. I only had to make one call to my good
friend and volunteer, Shelley. The next day she had all the volunteers organized and had the rescue all taken care of.
And they are still going strong! It will be a while before I am back to 100% but I can rest much easier knowing
everything is being well taken care of. Shelley – Thank you for everything. You wear so many hats at the rescue. You
are always there for me. You are my “Volunteer Coordinator, my sounding board, literally my right arm (the unbroken
one, of course) and so much more.” I only have to ask and you are there. And sometimes I don’t even have to ask. We
certainly have shared a lot of laughter as well as tears. You’re one in a million!
We have had so many great comments about our website. Our webmaster is my husband, Bill. He has done such
an awesome job! He has been really amazing these past few months. When I fell he pitched right in and helped clean
the rescue, did the adoptions, and being my chauffeur since I am unable to drive. There were days he didn’t know if he
was coming or going. Thank you so much for taking care of things. I couldn’t have managed without you.
To all of you who have adopted. I cannot thank you enough. To all of you who have donated time, materials and/or
money, thank you so very much!
This year we are hoping to start a newsletter. We hope to have our 1st issue ready my March. We are also hoping to
add some new items to our website, so keep watching!
We are also trying to obtain a new logo. We are hoping to discover someone who can draw and design our new
logo. If anyone knows of someone who can provide this service please let us know. We have several great ideas but
need an artist to bring them to life.
In closing – We could never thank each and every one of you enough. But we do thank you from the bottom of our
heart!
Peggy
